Normally I don’t write about movies that I’ve already seen but I forgot how much I love this fucking movie and now I want to tell you all how much I love it (and want to rewatch it immediately). It’s jaded and cynical and out there, and you’re not supposed to want JD and Veronica to make it but I do because really, I just want my own guy to give drain cleaner to my enemies as it were. Also, for a movie about teenagers, it’s incredibly smartly written and not in that pretentious, Dawson’s Creek-y way either. The lines that get quoted from this get quoted with good reason. My personal favorite line is “Chaos was what killed the dinosaurs darling,” but cmon. “I love my dead gay son!” needs to be on the next AFI list. And, on a superficial note: young Christian Slater? Yes please.
