AHHHHH ELVIS! He was real young and real pretty in this film. It’s not a great movie by any means (Elvis is noble, Elvis goes to jail for being noble, Elvis sings in jail, Elvis gets out of jail, Elvis sings some more and meets a girl, Elvis becomes an asshole, Elvis redeems himself through song, Elvis gets girl) but that didn’t stop me from enjoying it.
Elvis is a teen idol at this point in his career. It’s obvious that this film was catering to the young fans that wanted to see Elvis shake his hips all around and sing a couple of songs. It’s incredible in that the plot of this film doesn’t really matter at all. I’ve never seen a movie where you could have changed just a few details and had the same exact sequence of events happen. Just change jail to boot camp or reform school and it could still be the same exact film. It’s incredible.
It’s not a necessary movie to see by any means, but it’s enjoyable and definately made me appreciate Elvis more.
