This is the best movie that I’ve seen this year. I want it to be nominated for Golden Globes and Oscars and SAG awards and everything else. If this filmmaker and these actors don’t get a boatload of awards come prestige season, I will make one myself out of glue and sparkles and call it the Sarahs from the Academy of Arts and Awesome (est. 2009) and give them one myself.The movie centers around Steven and Bloom, siblings and con artists, travelling the world and falling in love on one last con. They’re charming and writerly and any mark is an easy target. They’ve made themselves into legends, and now where do they go.The writing, acting, and directing are all flawless. It knocked me out, to be completely honest. As a viewer, I wanted these characters to succeed. Their highs and their lows…I felt them so accutely as if they were my own. The director knew enough to keep out of his actors’ way. Once again, this ensemble cast look like friends on set and off. Everyone should see this movie at least once. It’s a universe that everyone has to visit, and it is far and away the best movie that you’re not seeing.If you never take my advice on another movie again, that’s fine. If I’ve steered you wrong before, that’s fine too. Please see this one. You will not regret it. A movie that leaves you feeling good are rare indeed. Films like these are often called gems and this one is precious.
