To anyone who may be wondering why I sought this movie out (as it admittedly doesn’t seem like me), I didn’t. Every summer I work with Patrick, a fellow film fan. Patrick likes to let me borrow movies that he considers his favorites-to make it into his dvd collection he has to REALLY like a film. meanwhile I’ll let any movie that I halfway like into my collection. But, I digress. This was the first such movie that he let me borrow this summer. And…I’m at a loss.
I really didn’t like it, because I didn’t find it funny. The funniest part of the film was the credits sequence.
Seth Green was good! There was that!
I’m just finding it hard to get really fired up over this movie. I didn’t hate it. I didn’t like it. And that’s more upsetting to me than out and out hating it would have been. I nothinged this movie. It was just something that was on that I was mildly engaged in. Every so often there would be a dick joke or boobs and I’d be like: “I can see how this would be funny to some people but it’s not exactly funny to me.”
Fall Out Boy was in it though. It reminded me of a time when I rented Not Another Teen movie so that I could see Good Charlotte. That movie was worse than this one. That’s just about the best thing I can say about Sex Drive.
If you want something mindless where the comedy just happens? Go for it. No judgments here.
OH: two more things. The chubby kid is clearly who you get if Jonah Hill is off making a movie with Seth Rogen, and I am really surprised that Disney let James mardsen off the leash in this movie. To go from being a Disney prince to being this guy who says fag every other word is quite a feat indeed, and I’ve found a little more respect for him. Well done sir.
